The benefits of lavender:
Lavender has been known for centuries as "nature's first aid". It has many beneficial properties to people of all ages.
Many of the purported medicinal uses for lavender have, upon modern scientific testing, proven to be legitimate. Lavender oil does have antibiotic activity effectively killing many common bacteria.
Essential oil of lavender has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It was used in hospitals during WWI to disinfect floors, walls and other surfaces.
- An infusion of lavender is claimed to soothe and heal insect bites.
- Bunches of lavender are also said to ward off insects.
- Applying to the temples, lavender oil is said to soothe headaches.
- Lavender is frequently used as an aid to sleep and relaxation:
- Flowers of the plant are added to pillows, for a restful nights sleep
- Lavender essential oil is claimed to be good for acne when used diluted 1:10 with water, rosewater, or witch hazel
- It can also used in the treatment of skin burns and inflammatory conditions such as sunburns and cuts and grazes.
- When used in massage oil it helps soothel aching muscles.
- Lavender in shamppo has been shown to reduce or completely stop dandruff
- Dab some lavender essential oil on mosquito and bug bites for relief from itching.
